Health Certificates
USDA-accredited vets on staff to handle needs for both domestic
and international travel with pets.
Health Certificates
Traveling with your dog or cat, while rewarding, can also be a stressful and complicated process that requires careful planning and documentation. With multiple USDA-accredited veterinarians on staff, Ally Pet Medical Center is equipped to assist you and handle all the necessary paperwork for both domestic and international travel.
International Travel Health Certificates
Every country has its own unique and often evolving entry requirements for pets. Before we begin the certification process, a non-refundable travel research fee is required. This fee allows our USDA-accredited veterinarian to review the pet’s medical history and research country-specific regulations for the destination and travel dates.
Once the veterinarian has reviewed a complete medical history and performed the necessary research, a custom timeline, plan for certification, and estimate of costs will be sent to the pet owner. Please note that traveling with your pet internationally costs upwards of $1000 and varies depending upon the destination country's specific requirements.
If you have plans to travel with your pet internationally, we advise you to begin looking at the necessary requirements by visiting the USDA APHIS website. Please feel free to contact us for more information or to begin the certification process (a non-refundable fee will be taken).
Pets Returning to the United States
If your travel plans include returning to the U.S. with a dog, please note that the CDC now requires a Dog Import Form and other documentation prior to re-entry. We will provide guidance, but the responsibility for completing government forms remains with the owner. More information can be found on the CDC website here.
Pet Transport Services
Some pet owners may prefer or benefit from working with professional pet transport companies. These services can help coordinate logistics such as customs clearance, airport handling, and travel arrangements. Please note that these companies operate independently from Ally Pet Medical Center, and their services come at an additional cost separate from veterinary appointments and fees. Please visit the International Pet and Animal Transport Association (IPATA) website here to find a pet transport company.
Domestic Travel
For travel within the United States, Ally Pet Medical Center issues domestic health certificates for dogs and cats. Requirements may vary depending on the state or airline. If traveling by air, we strongly recommend confirming requirements directly with your airline. Most carriers require health certificates to be issued within 10 days of travel, and some may have additional breed, crate, or temperature-related restrictions.
If you’re planning a trip with your pet, please reach out early- planning ahead ensures that every step is completed accurately and on time. Safe travels to you and your furry companion!
